• Hi! I'm Laura Hana, happy to serve couples and families in Vancouver.

I value family, love and memories. Once I had a family of my own, I made sure to continue my father's tradition of documenting our lives and our relationships. And now, as a professional photographer, I aim to help others preserve those special memories.

I'd love to meet you and get to know you better.

Hear what my clients have to say about their Laura Hana photo session experience!

  • Laura is a true professional with a keen eye, creative mind, and a quick trigger finger ready to capture life's most precious moments as they happen. She is also a warm and friendly person who endeavours to make the photoshoot an enjoyable time for all of the participants especially the young ones. As a mother, she knows intuitively how to interact with children in a genuine and caring way. When I look at the photographs that Laura took for us, I see love, I see laughter and I know that these beautiful moments will live happily ever after as some of our most treasured family belongings.

  • FAQ

I hope our Frequently Asked Questions section can give you a better idea of what goes on during a photo session. If you should have any further questions, I'd love to hear from you. See the contact section below to learn how to contact me.

  • How do we book a session?

You can contact me so we can confirm a date, time and location. You can book a session as far as 6 months in advance. Booking early will ensure you get the date you want. A retainer is required to reserve your date. See the contact section below to learn how to contact us.

When should we book a newborn session?

Newborns are best photographed within 2 weeks of arrival to capture their special beauty. You can book the session before or just after your baby is born to ensure I can fit into your schedule.

When is the best time for photos?

Although I can shoot under any lighting conditions, when outdoors, the most flattering times of the day for photographs is in the morning or late afternoon. Mid-day sun can cast unappealing shadows. Indoor shoots can be done anytime during the day.

    What if it rains?

I check the forecast everyday for a week prior to each session. If it is certain that we will be rained out, we can reschedule the shoot.

  • What can we expect before the session?

Prior to the actual session, we will discuss what you envision for your portraits, answer any questions you might have and agree on a location.

    During the session?

On the day of, be sure everyone is well rested and the young ones fed. You can bring along their favourite snacks or toys. The session will be about 1 hour long and because I shoot in a relaxed atmosphere, the little ones can take breaks when needed. I strive to capture the essence of you so we make it a fun and memorable experience for the whole family.

    And after the session?

Within 14 days of the shoot, I will have a private online gallery ready for proofing with about 20-30 images from the session. The gallery will be available online for 30 days during which you may order prints.

  • What should we wear?

It is best to avoid loud patterns or stripes as it takes the attention away from your lovely faces. For family or group portraits, try to wear colours that compliment each other and be sure no one stands out from the group. Layers are great for chillier weather where we can change up the colours and textures for different kinds of shots. For example, a knit sweater or scarf can be taken off or put on easily during a shoot.

Can we bring props or toys?

You're more than welcome to bring props of your choice or your children's favourite toys to the shoot. Children may feel more at ease when they are holding onto something familiar.
